The delicate skin around the eyes is particularly susceptible to the aging process. Even minor stresses such as lack of sleep can lead to dark circles, puffiness and a tired overall appearance. Over time, the skin can sag and fat deposits can appear under the eyes, which are known as bags under the eyes.

A lower eyelid lift can correct these aesthetic problems. A small incision is made near the eyelash line to remove excess skin and fatty tissue. The sagging muscles are tightened and the skin is smoothed over. The resulting scar is extremely discreet and lies directly under the eyelashes.

The operation can be performed under local or general anesthesia. After the procedure, slight swelling and bruising are normal and usually subside within a few days. These side effects can be minimized by cooling and rest.
