Correcting protruding ears is the most common reason for surgery in this area. These can be performed from the age of 5 to 6, as the ear is already fully developed at this age.
The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia, though a general anesthetic may be necessary for children. The shape, size, and position of the ears are enhanced through delicate cartilage incisions and sutures.
The incision is made behind the ear, ensuring that any scars remain discreet and well-hidden.
After the operation A headband should be worn day and night for one week, and only at night for a further six weeks. This prevents the ear from folding over due to a careless movement and the delicate threads from being torn out.
In addition to correcting protruding ears, earlobes can also be reduced in size or torn ear holes can be surgically repaired so that a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing earlobe is created again.
